We are deeply concerned about the severe food insecurity in Somalia, which came about due to tribal conflict and prolonged drought caused by climate change, Zahra Naleie, chairman of the Libin Foundation, said in a statement issued on Tuesday, 24 December 2024.
More than 4.2 million people are now facing acute food insecurity, which makes a 22% increase, as 1.6 million Somali children are on the brink of malnutrition, as mentioned in the report published by Concern Worldwide US
“Cutting trees and deforestation is also part of the problem that can cause the drought and lack of rainfall.” Said Zahra Naleie.
